If you watched the Super Bowl, you saw the trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth, the seventh film in the ever-popular, money-making franchise. Though a stand-alone story, it is considered a sequel to Jurassic World Dominion (2022). It has an all-new ensemble cast, headed by Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali. If Owen Grady, Claire Dearing, or Drs. Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm will be making cameo appearances, it’s been kept well under wraps. The film will not hit movie theaters or streaming services till July.

HEY, IT’S DINOSAURS

As I’ve noted many times, I’m a sucker for dinosaur movies, so I’m guardedly excited about this new one. Will it be the first of a new trilogy? We’ll see. In the initial trilogy, Jurassic Park is the best of the best. The Lost World: Jurassic Park is okay—kind of funny, actually, especially having the T-Rex rampage through my adopted hometown of San Diego. As for Jurassic Park IIIhey, it’s dinosaurs.

The franchise was excellently resurrected in 2015 with Jurassic World, the first of a new trilogy. Its sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, worked well for the first half, until the story moved indoors. As for Jurassic World Dominion…again I say, hey, it’s dinosaurs. The best thing it had going for it was melding the five stars from both trilogies in one film, not as cameos but as active participants in the plot.

This fellow landed a role in the new movie.

We’ll have to wait and see if Jurassic World Rebirth is truly the rebirth of the franchise. I suppose that, good or bad, there will be sequels, as long as this new entry makes…money. But to reiterate, hey, it’s dinosaurs.
