It wasn’t exactly a fun time back in 2020, when this post first ran. But it WAS memorable.

Butch and Sundance, just hangin’ out.

It’s July already, and this freaking coronavirus shows no sign of letting up. Truth be told, it’s only getting worse, and with no vaccine in sight it appears that we’re in this for the long haul.

Jacqueline and I are still doing fine, and as I’ve said before, we are doubtless more cautious than most, being in the “high-risk group.” As of this writing there are over 420 Covid-19 deaths in San Diego County, and three-quarters of them are folks over seventy. Hell yeah, we’ll continue to remain cautious, given all of the premature re-openings of businesses, beaches, and other attractions here. And believe it or not, many California counties are far worse off than we are.

We’re still limiting trips outside our complex to grocery runs, though I do slip out the main gate most mornings for a long walk on some practically deserted streets. One walk we take together inside the complex is to a small park not far from our house, where we sit on a shady bench and watch the numerous hummingbirds chow down on some native plants. It is a great place to de-stress.

Our pocket park…great place to de-stress.

I mentioned before that I’m really missing baseball, so at first, I rejoiced at the likelihood of a sixty-game season starting up in a couple of weeks. But now I’m wondering if it is worth putting the lives of so many young men and their families at risk for our entertainment. Barring a sudden spike it looks as if MLB is going ahead with the plan, so I guess we’ll see. It would be nice to again hear the refrain of “strike this motherfucker out!” echoing through our abode.  😊

Go Padres! And Go Away, Covid-19!
