Swords, Specters, & Stuff
Welcome to My World
I started this blog in January 2012 for one simple reason: I love to write. I named it “Swords, Specters, & Stuff” because I especially love to write about writing, about books and movies in my favorite genres, about authors that mean a great deal to me. But there’s more to it than that, which is why I included “Stuff” in the title. It is “Stuff” that gives me carte blanche to write about anything, which is why you’ll see stories about special trips to Cooperstown, Sedona, and other places; about getting older; about baseball; about the otherworldly way in which I met my soul mate; about the loss of good friends, and so much more. Enjoy! And feel free to leave a comment.
Throwback Thursday: I Knew The Time To Retire Had Come When…
A really troublesome client did me a big favor. I first presented this post in 2021.
Myths And Legends: Excelsior House
Located in rural Jefferson, Texas, the Excelsior House Hotel is considered a focal point for paranormal activity. You don’t believe it? Just ask Steven Spielberg.
Throwback Thursday: Myths And Legends—The Friendliest Ghost In San Francisco
You might consider inviting this personable ghost to your Thanksgiving feast. I first presented this post in 2021.
Revisited: A Real Turkey
The turkey I’m going to address—a weird film titled MIMIC 2—has nothing to do with the turkey you’ll doubtless be partaking of later this week.
Throwback Thursday: Too Many Giants Spoil The Brew
Heck, even Mickey, Donald, and Goofy climbed a beanstalk in search of a giant! I first presented this post about JACK THE GIANT SLAYER in 2021.
Myths And Legends: Clinton Road
You’re driving down the long (10 miles), lonely, poorly paved Clinton Road in West Milford, New Jersey. It is late at night, but you’ve heard about the Ghost Boy, and you want to check it out for yourself.
Throwback Thursday: Guilty Pleasures—THE MEG
The sequel to THE MEG, alluded to in this post, was a disappointment, like so many sequels. I first presented this post in 2021.
The Strange Case Of The Dead Fish
Sounds like the title of a Sherlock Holmes story, doesn’t it? But this incident was real, and I happened to have a role in it, so let me tell the tale.
Throwback Thursday: Graboids Never Say Die
Are they going to make an eighth TREMORS movie? Who knows? This post first ran in 2021.
“Roll In Ze Hay”—RIP Teri Garr
We lost another gem last week. Comedic actress Teri Garr, 79, passed away from complications of multiple sclerosis, a disease she was first diagnosed with over two decades ago.
