Robert E. Howard, author of the Conan stories and many other outstanding tales, is regarded as the father of Sword & Sorcery. I loved reading his stories, and I regard him as my muse for the four novels that I wrote in this genre.

Weird, But True:

I used to dream these stories and then get up in the morning to write down whatever scene I’d dreamt. The Sons of Ornon (then titled The Twentieth Son of Ornon) came so fast that I wrote the initial draft of it in less than three weeks. (Don’t try that at home—unless you welcome madness.)
